MetaMask is a popular browser extension wallet that allows users to manage their cryptocurrency assets and interact with decentralized applications (dApps) on the Ethereum blockchain. However, MetaMask can also be used to interact with other blockchain networks, including the Avalanche network.
To add the Avalanche network to MetaMask, you’ll need to follow these steps:
- Install MetaMask: If you haven’t already installed the MetaMask extension for your browser, you’ll need to do so. You can download it from the MetaMask website.
- Open MetaMask: Once you have installed MetaMask, open it by clicking on the MetaMask icon in your browser toolbar.

- Enter Avalanche Network Details: In the Custom RPC settings, you’ll need to enter the following network details for the Avalanche network:
- Network Name: Avalanche
- New RPC URL: https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc
- Chain ID: 0xa86a
- Symbol: AVAX
- Block Explorer URL: https://cchain.explorer.avax.network/
Make sure to double-check the details you’ve entered before clicking “Save” to save the network settings.
- Switch to the Avalanche Network: Once you’ve saved the Avalanche network settings, you can switch to the network by selecting “Avalanche” from the network dropdown menu in the top left corner of the MetaMask window.
That’s it! You should now be able to interact with the Avalanche network using your MetaMask wallet. You can use your MetaMask wallet to send and receive AVAX tokens and interact with dApps on the Avalanche network.
It’s important to note that adding a custom network to MetaMask can be risky, as it opens up the possibility of interacting with fraudulent networks. Make sure to double-check the network details before adding a custom network to MetaMask, and only interact with networks and dApps that you trust.
